Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2017
abstract:
This International Seminar has been promoted by the bilateral project with China on "Routes of culture: enhancement and management of large scale heritage sites. Via Appia - Roman Consular street - and Grand Canal of China" financed by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage - CACH (2016-2019) and takes advantage of the presentation of the work on "Appia Regina Viarum" (Ancient Appia street) done by MIBACT, in order to promote a long lasting collaboration among the two countries on conservation and enhancement of big archaeological sites and of cultural heritage. The bilateral project with China has the following major research aims: 1) a comparative research between the two countries on the management planning and policies of the relative case studies with the aim to identify the most appropriate governance models and operative instruments (such as territorial networking, interdisciplinary cooperation, cultural district economic organization systems, etc.) able to approach heritage as a real resource to support local development and foster community empowerment; 2) an investigation on the enhancement methodologies and approaches used by both countries. On these grounds the Seminar organised today will further enhance our collaboration.
