abstract:
The book illustrates the procedure and results of the research project dedicated to the study of Etruscan bronze mirrors through the application of mathematical and statistical techniques. After applying descriptive statistical techniques, experimentation is specifically focused on the use of multivariate statistical analyses, such as multidimensional reduction methods (Principal Component Analysis and Correspondence Analysis), used in combination with the techniques of automatic data classification (Cluster Analysis). In particular, Correspondence Analysis made it possible to enucleate the variables that most contribute to the characterization of mirrors (type of frame, compositional schemes, etc.), while Cluster Analysis made it possible to highlight some groups of mirrors useful for classification purposes.
