AN ALGORITHM FOR THE CONTINUATION ANALYSIS OF DETAILED KINETICS SCHEMES

Abstract:
In the present study an algorithm to perform non-linear analysis through pseudo-arclenght continuation tool of fuel mixture reacting in a CSTR is illustrated. In particular, a complex chemical kinetic schemes and a detailed description of thermodynamic properties have been take into account. It is shown that the Broyden type corrector outperform for this problem the Newton type correctors leading to performances that made affordable the computations even with desktop computers. The algorithm is implemented in Matlab and the right hand side of the dynamical system is thoroughly built up by linking our code with the open-source CANTERA library. The characteristic S-Shaped curve, including non-stable branches, and accurate detection of extinction and ignition conditions for three Jet Fuel (JF) mixtures described with the mechanism developed by Prof. Ranzi and coworkers have been carefully characterized by exploiting the capability of technique. These properties have been investigated over a range of fuel/air ratios and different operating pressure. The three JF mixtures considered are a traditional fuels (Jet-A) and two new generation fuel (CTL and STL), described adopting appropriate surrogates.
