Note on characterization of the seed protein phaseolin in Phaseolus lunatus

Identification of phaseolin polypeptides in Lima bean permits an accurate analysis of protein variation which is believed to be the basis for tracing evolutionary origin of Lima bean and for a better evaluation of seed material stored in gene banks. A crude protein extract was fractionated by DEAE-Sephacel and acidic linear sucrose gradients. The polypeptides presents in the peaks with 18S were separated by SDS-PAGE.
