This study is concerned with good governance, spirituality and morality in Sardinia in the late Middle Ages, beginning with the book of the Ordinacions of the city of Cagliari (Pinna), which include all the ordinances of the city council issued to ensure good regiment of the city. The ordinances are the rules set by the royal power through the municipality and are an excellent material to study various aspects of the life in the late medieval city, including trades, prices, hygiene rules, consumer products, provisions concerning slaves, Jews, prostitutes, gambling, theft, fighting, relations between citizens, corporations, public safety, public order, purity of the customs or maintenance of urban peace.
