Observation of the transition to the cluster spin-glass phase in La2-xSrxCuO4 by anelastic spectroscopy

abstract:
A step-like increase of the acoustic absorption is found in La2-xSrxCuO4 (x = 0.019, 0.032 and 0.064) at the temperatures of the freezing into the cluster spin-glass state. The absorption does not seem to be due to the freezing of the magnetic fluctuations; rather, it is attributed to the stress-induced change of the sizes of the antiferromagnetically correlated clusters. © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
