abstract:
Science is a social activity [Merton, 1973] based on a cumulative process of
knowledge building and sharing. This process relies on the efficacy of an
information infrastructure defined as "the technological, social, and political
framework that encompasses the people, technology, tools, and services used to
facilitate the distributed, collaborative use of content over time and distance"
[Borgman, 2007].
