2 Nm3/h LPG Fuel Processor for PEFCs: A Case History

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2005
abstract:
The fuel processor remains the critical component of Fuel Cell Systems. This paper covers the activity, carried out at CNR-ITAE on the development of a hydrogen generator finalized to Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell Systems for stationary applications. The prototype, HYGen I, with a nominal hydrogen production of 2 รท 5 Nm3/h, includes three packed catalytic bed: autothermal reactor (ATR), intermediate water gas shift reactor (ITS) and the CO Preferential Oxidation reactor (PROX). The objective of the present investigation is to test the system for the H2 production from C3H8 as model hydrocarbons; fuel conversion, hydrogen and carbon monoxide contents in the outlet stream and stability for repeated start-up and shut-down cycles has been evaluated.
