The Status of Man's Right to Environment in International Law

As from 1988, the UN human rights bodies have referred in their resolutions to the right to live in a sound and healthy environment. In 2012, building also on some previous resolutions on human rights and climate change, the Human Rights Council established an independent expert on human rights and the environment. In international law however, debates are still held on the status of such a right.
