Identification of Adducts of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate with N-Acetylcysteine or Glutathione through Capillary Electrophoresis Analysis.

Abstract:
Resin based materials (RBM) are routinely used in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics and orthodontics. Many in vitro studies have shown that the polymerization reaction of RBM is never complete and non-polymerized monomers, including triethylene glycol methacrylate (TEGDMA) or 2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate (HEMA), are released in the oral environment. In some instances, methacrylic monomers display a variable degree of toxicity and may cause, or contribute to adverse biological like the damages of the oral soft tissues sometimes observed in vivo. It is therefore evident the need of detailed in vitro studies regarding the interactions between methacrylates and host.
