TAPE CASTING: A TECHNIQUE FOR PREPARING AND STUDYING NEW MATERIALS.

Tape casting is a technique widely used to produce alumina substrates and multilayer capacitors. Nevertheless some scientific aspects of this technology are not completely explored. In this paper the technological and scientific problems, on laboratory scale, faced at IRTEC are reviewed. Particular attention is devoted to describe the preparation of substrates of materials other than alumina (i. e. mullite, alumina-zirconia and mullite-zirconia composites), their properties and possible applications.
