The hydrothermal reaction of KVO3, PhPO3H2 and water at 180 degrees C for 116 h yields the tubular mixed valence V-V/V-IV polymer (H3O)[(V3O4)(H2O)(PhPO3)(3)]. xH(2)O (x = 2.33).
