abstract:
Two recent books offer new insights on Italian labour history: Il lavoro delle donne nell'Italia contemporanea, by Alessandra Pescarolo and Precari e precarie: una storia dell'Italia repubblicana, by Eloisa Betti. Both propose an important change of perspective with respect to the dominant tradition in the Italian labour history: the point of view of women and the precarious condition becomes the ground where a new interpretation of the general story of work in Contemporary Italy appears possible. These books provide ideas of extreme interest for further historical studies, not only in the field of labour history, but for the historians of society, family, law, economics, culture.
