During his exile in Rome, the Catalan priest Antoni de Bastero i Lledó (1675-1739), undertook the task of writing a vocabulary of Italian words derived from Provençal language. This study, retracing the ideological basis on which Bastero built a canon of the Catalan literature, shows how and why the most important place was assigned to Ausiàs March
