abstract:
"Sperlonga and Riviera of Ulysses" project was funded by the Lazio Region, based on a partnership with private societies and the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) - Department of Cultural Heritage, aiming at enhancing the coastal area between Terracina and Gaeta using new technologies and improving the tourist attractiveness. In this context, the Institute for Conservation and Valorization of Cultural Heritage of CNR created some cultural itineraries through integrating a large number of sites (historical, artistic, religious, etc.), thus composing a multipurpose offer and promoting a sustainable cultural tourism. In particular, "Sacred places" is the itinerary specifically focused on the most significant sites of devoutness in the area, from ancient Greek-Italic time until today, while other routes combine places of religious significance with others more generally of cultural interest. The contribution aims at presenting the premises, the strategy pursued and the project outcomes.
