Physical measurement on dielectric properties of biological substances

A method and some results about the microwave spectroscopy of biological substances are presented. The method allows to measure in a non-invasive way, the complex dielectric constant of a material in the frequency range 100 to 2000 MHz. Its major peculiarities are related to a remarkable rapidity of use and to the smallness of the biological sample required. The most promising applications may be in the field of the investigations of microscopic properties of tissues and macromolecules, and also for diagnostic purposes.
