abstract:
Wood and wood pellet combustion represents a large amount of the energy production in domestic plant. The interest in expanding this market, while reducing the environmental impact lead the manufacturers of different wood stoves to optimize the combustion process reducing pollutant emission and increasing global efficiency.
The aim of this study is to continue previous work done on fireplace by analyzing and optimizing a pellet burner inserted in a combined fireplace (wood and wood pellet) to lower its environmental impact. Experimental activities first concerned the measurements of the operative conditions and the global performances of the fireplace. The second step was dedicated to the understanding of the problematical situations and to the optimization of the fluid-dynamic conditions of the burner.
