abstract:
Tuscany has a long and glorious tradition in meteorology: the first world meteorological network was established in the second half of the seventeenth century by the Grand Duke Ferdinando II de 'Medici. The Galileo's school was the true inspiration of the project: the first meteorological instruments infact date to Galileo and his disciples. The book is developed by four chapters: the first is a brief history of meteorology of the Kingdom of Italy between 1860 and 1890, of the meteorological network of the Alps developed by Denza and the subsequent expansion of the network of this network with the input of Tuscany network. The second chapter reviews the Tuscany individual observatories ; The third chapter examines government observatories, while the fourth contains a brief description of the measuring instruments of the meteoric Observatory Ximenian network.
