Depth discrimination was tested behaviorally in adult cats prior to and after chronic section of the ophthalmic branch of the Vth cranial nerve, that contains the majority of oculomotor proprioceptive fibers. Binocular depth discrimination was considerably impaired following either unilateral or bilateral oculomotor proprioceptive deafferentation.
