abstract:
It should be useful reserving much more effort to enforce the existing synergies between strategies to mitigate the climate change and the action plans for the development of circular and bioeconomy. This synergy could be ensured by the introduction of adequate economic tools and by supporting innovative researching pilot projects able to generate a high added value both by the economic and environmental point of view.
The research on bio composites is mainly focusing on the reduction of costs related to biodegradable plastic materials. Considering the hard exploitation of land biomasses, the using of marine biopolymers could be a wise alternative. The accumulation of some kind of macroalgae on coasts and bays could represent a real threat to the marine natural ecosystems and implies huge operative and economic charge for local administration to disposal. Anyway these infesting algae should be easily valorized, rightly processing them is possible to obtain fibers to introduce in several productive cycles both as "raw materials" or as polymeric matrices. From macroalgae, in fact, it is possible to obtain a number of natural polymers. These polymers can be processed, by the electrospinning technology (CNR-IIA laboratories for advanced and innovative sensors) to realize innovative and eco compatible sensors for environmental monitoring.
