abstract:
We present an R-based tool that allows to set up and run the Three Dimensional - Coupled Model Carbon Cycle - Forest Ecosystem Model (3D-CMCC-FEM). It provides an intuitive interface to perform model simulations con-
trolling several parameters while implementing consistency checks on the model inputs. The overall tool consists of a folder containing the model executable, several subfolders to host the input files, and a pre-compiled R
script that the user can fill in according to the desired simulation settings and including some test cases for model practice. The model run settings include the simulation time-frame, the temporal resolution of the outputs,
the inclusion or exclusion of increasing atmospheric CO 2 concentration and climate-related effects, the definition of several management options including thinning, harvesting, replanting, and shelterwood. The tool can
also run several simulations in loops through different sites, management options, and climate scenarios, and provides a graphical representation of the results by plotting the output time series. In this poster, we present
the R-wrapper functionalities by simulating the effect of climate change and several management options at a test site.
