LANDSCAPE AND THE SINGULAR DIFFERENTIATION OF PLACES. FROM REPRESENTATION TO PLANNING The main aim of this contribution is to reflect on the importance of landscape's multiple connotations, supporting the need of an integration between cognitive and operative aspects, to realize a suitable planning that could approach landscape from a complex perspective. Only through the acknowledgement of its "irreducible multiplicity", of its peculiarities, characteristics and differences, expressed through the singularity of each place, we can try to start a process of participative management with the final aim of enhancing all the territorial varieties manifested through landscape. Therefore, it is necessary to "restore" places and to be aware of their singular identity to work for the protection, safeguard and management of landscape.
