This essay offers some elements to understand the ecclesial, political and cultural context in Trentino between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, when Vincenzo Casagrande received his education, undertook his priestly ministry, and was active as a scholar and first director of Museo Diocesano Tridentino.
