Weed science studies weeds from a biological and ecological perspective, their effect on human activities and options for management. To organize sustainable management it is necessary to broaden the vision, exploiting the knowledge deriving from botany, ecology, agronomy, agro-chemistry and mechanics, trying to organize and integrate more tools and more techniques. Archaeological sites are a very particular environment, where many techniques developed in agriculture are not applicable and where the need to respect the monuments considerably reduces the number of very effective options, increasing the difficulty of management. This must be addressed by improving knowledge and using more precise and site-specific techniques
