Modulated Sliding Mode Control for Wind Energy Conversion Optimization

Conference Poster
Publication Date:
2017
abstract:
The main control objective is to maximize the captured power, optimizing its power conversion efficiency, reducing mechanical fatigue and attenuating the output chattering. A modulated sliding mode controller is proposed, because this control strategy presents attractive features such as robustness to parametric uncertainties of the turbine and the generator as well as to electric grid disturbances. Moreover, the super-twisting (STW) sliding mode approach is arranged in order to design a continuous torque, thus reducing the chattering phenomenon and therefore the mechanical stress since no strong torque variations are required.
