Tecniche geomatiche applicate alla ricerca archeologica in ambienti desertici: il caso della Missione Archeologica Italiana nell'Oasi di Farafra (Egitto)

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2009
abstract:
Since the initial phases of research in Egypt, Sudan and Libya, the reconstruction of the cultural sequences have been carried out with multidisciplinary methods, using the latest field research techniques. In particular, over the years it has become necessary to intensively use high precision instruments in parallel to the application of methods for landscape investigation that can be used over large distances, also in consideration of the enormous extent of the areas given in concession by the local governments (for Egypt alone the area is more than 10000km2).The application of geomatic techniques, which fall into the research area of the Area of Geodetics and Geomatics, is particularly important for archaeological research which uses investigative models over large areas but also increasingly requires the support of innovative methodologies and diversified approaches according to the level on which work is carried out (definition of the research area, detailed survey of structures, extremely accurate definition of site location, etc.).
