The Geodynamic framework of the Ancient Egypt

Chapter
Publication Date:
2015
abstract:
The Earth's dynamic is a strong constrain to the reconstruction of human activities in the past. The landscape and the availability of natural resources are heavily controlled by geological processes. From this point of view is very important that archaeologists must be supported by state-of-the-art knowledge about the interested region. Egypt is a critical area and interpretation of archaeological evidences can be improved integrating different disciplines. The selection of the most appropriate tools depends on the knowledge about processes occurring in Egypt. This work offers a brief summary of endogenous processes (tectonics, volcanism and metamorphism) and exogenous processes (degradation and aggradation) acting in the territory of the Ancient Egypt. This overview offers an interpretative approach for archaeological findings and philological evidences. The case study of Deir el-Bahari is presented.
