abstract:
The resonant absorption of gamma rays, emitted by nucleus of particular isotopes embedded in solid state matrices, was discovered and explained in 1957 by Rudolph Mössbauer. From the time when it was discovered, scientists have used the Mössbauer effect to investigate valence states, structure and bonding properties in solid state materials. Moreover, vibrational properties and dynamics of the hyperfine fields have been investigated.[1][2][3]
