Observation of triplet doubly excited states in single photon excitation from ground state helium

abstract:
The formation of LS-forbidden triplet states in single photon absorption by helium was assessed. Six of the seven predicted doubly excited states were observed by detection of metastable atoms formed following fluorescence of the doubly excited states.
