EUROPE-INDIA COOPERATION ON BIO- AND PHYTO-REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2018
abstract:
During the last decade the cooperation between Europe and India has increased, notably in the field of environmental protection. Consistent founding on soil and water remediation research projects has been activated in the frame of FP7 and Horizon2020 programs, built on previous governmental agreements between India and European Union. Indian Government is investing particularly in bioremediation technologies as a promising tool to alleviate the huge soil and water pollution issues that India is facing. The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) is the leading coordinator of TECO Project, a EuropeAid Action within the "EU-India Research and Innovation Partnership". TECO, "Technological ECOInnovations for the quality control and the decontamination of polluted waters and soils", started in December 2014 and in 2018 is facing its last year of intense activity of research exchange and networking. TECO project is co-funded by the European Union; Indian partner of the Project is the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI-CSIR).
