abstract:
The paper explains the UNI 11535, published in July 2014, related to the librarian professional activity. This is the first Italian standard defining the characteristics of librarian activity, in compliance with the provisions of Law 4/2013 on the not organized professions. Both the Law and the UNI standard give a new and substantial opportunity to the national librarian environment, which now has the ability to adequately enhance its know-how and strengthen the business organizations around the definition of the professional competences, now legally recognized.
The paper hints at national and European rules, as well as the context in which the UNI standard has been prepared by the special Working Group; indicates the innovative possibilities that arise from this standard and the future applications in the labor market: both those who are already librarians, those who aspire to the profession, and those occasionally engaged to it who feel that profession appropriate to its own future job can receive direct or indirect benefits from this new rule.
The paper analyzes some steps particularly significant in the standard, where it expresses basic statements or indicates the peculiar professional activities.
