Plant - soil biota interactions

Chapter
Publication Date:
2024
abstract:
Plant-soil biota interactions affect plant health and productivity. This includes the role of root exudates in the complex dialog between the soil biota and plants. Plant VOCs, such as terpenes, phenylpropanoids, and benzenoid, are involved in structuring plant-microbe interactions. The organisms involved in these interactions and how they dialogue are still unresolved issues; however, it is known that PGPB or PGP fungi may induce resistance/tolerance to stress factors. Omics approaches have allowed us to obtain more details to answer questions related to what soil biota are present and what they are doing. Aboveground plant composition affected fungal community structure. Advances in bioinformatics have helped decipher and interconnect the data from various -omics approaches.
