abstract:
We study an ensemble of leaky-integrate-and-fire neurons. The delay of the mutual interactions contributes to the onset of an irregular collective dynamics when the single-neurons spiking frequencies are distributed in a finite range. The chaotic-like collective evolution is accompanied by a linearly stable dynamics of the single neurons (the microsopic maximum Lyapunov exponent is negative). Analogies and differences with the behaviour of phase oscillators in the standard Kuramoto setup are also briefly discussed.
