The Discrete Vortex Hydrodynamics method: similarities and differences with the SPH
Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2015
abstract:
A new Particle Vortex Method, called Diffused Vortex Hydrodynamics (DVH), has been recently developed at CNR-INSEAN. This method presents some similarities with the SPH linked to its meshless nature even if it is based on a different numerical approach. In this work advantages and drawbacks are
highlighted by testing these particle methods on selected test-cases and by performing heuristic convergence measurements. We underline that the present work is not aimed at comparing DVH and SPH in terms of abilities in solving specific fluid-dynamic problems, but rather at showing the similarities of these two different particle methods. Indeed, the performed analysis shows similar behaviours on the convergence of the two schemes.
