abstract:
The scattered intensity from an inclusion-containing hemisphere with its flat face on a perfectly reflecting surface is calculated within the framework of image theory. The cases of a hemispherical inclusion, of a spherical inclusion and of an inclusion composed of two mutually contacting spheres are considered with the purpose of assessing to what extent the optical properties of the host hemisphere are influenced by the presence of inclusions. Our results show that the morphology of the inclusions has a noticeable effect on the dependence of the scattered intensity on the angle of observation.
