abstract:
Lower ignition energy (0.02 mJ), wider
inflammability range (0.21<7.34), higher
calorific value (141,9 MJ/Kg) and higher flame
propagation speed, compared to gasoline, make
hydrogen an interesting and suitable substitute for
application in spark ignition (SI) engines. As a
gaseous fuel, hydrogen, once introduced into the
intake manifold and well mixed with air, improves
combustion efficiency compared to a liquid fuel and
results in a reduction of exhaust emissions. In
the present work, we studied the emissions of a
hydrogen-fueled SI engine for investigating if it can
be considered totally "green".
