Recent results in polygonal approximation

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1986
abstract:
Polygonal approximation is a technique widely used in fields dealing with digital representation of curves, in order to reduce the amount of data to be processed. Due to their wide range of application, the existing algorithms are based on a variety of approaches. this paper makes a survey of the most recent algorithms for polygonal approximation and analyses their main features.
