Cytosolic, membrane and cell-wall heat shock proteins in two genotypes of barley

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1995
abstract:
The cells of higher plants rapidly respond to high-temperature stress by inducing the synthesis of heat shock proteins (HSPs) which are required for the survival of the plants. The gene families of these proteins can be classified into two broad categories on the basis of molecular weight: high-molecular-weight (HMW) HSPs (> 60 kDa) and low molecular-weight (LMW) HSPs (10-30 kDa)(VIERLING E., Annu. Rev. Plant Pliysiol. Plant Mol. Biol., 42: 579- 620. 1991; PARSELL DA & LINDQUIST S., Annu. Rev.)
