HOW MUCH IS HOW MUCH? MEASUREMENT OF ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IN LONGITUDINAL STUDIES OF AGEING
Conference Poster
Publication Date:
2016
abstract:
Older adults are an at-risk population for alcohol-related harm, where up to 40% may drink hazardously, accounting for a large portion of disease burden in adults aged 50+ years. Comparing older adult alcohol consumption patterns across countries is essential for understanding predictors and consequences. A lack of consensus on survey methods to capture alcohol consumption data contributes to difficulties for comparative analyses. This poster (i) examines a variety of alcohol survey questions; and (ii) describes the harmonisation process.
