Correlazione tra le proprietà ottiche e la struttura dei componenti del particolato carbonioso prodotto in fiamme premiscelate

abstract:
Particulate matter was sampled in laminar premixed flames at atmospheric pressure and separated in molecular weight (MW)-segregated fractions. Through UV-visible spectroscopy of each MW fraction, it was possible to evaluate the corresponding band gap, related to the size of the aromatic units. The lower MW compounds, key species in the soot formation, were also analysed by fluorescence emission spectroscopy. By coupling UV-Visible spectroscopy and fluorescence the molecular structure of carbonaceous species and their evolution during the complex mechanism of soot formation was followed.
