abstract:
As the rest of the world, even Europe has recognized the Internet as a powerful catalyst for the growth of creativity, collaboration and innovation. Based on these arguments, the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR of Pisa (IIT-CNR) has launched a project that analyzes Internet Diffusion in Italy by using the metric of domain names registered in the country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) . "it". The research has permitted an analysis of Internet Diffusion at local level by taking into account broad categories of users, thus giving a first assessment of the Digital Divide in Italy.
