Abstract:
The datareportedinthispaperarecomplementarytothechar-
acterizationof4-(phenylazo)-benzoyl-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-
1-oxylradical(AzO-TEMPO)andofthe4-(2-thienylazo)-benzoyl-
2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxylradical(ThiO-TEMPO)before
andaftertheirgraftingtotwopolyethylenematrices(acopolymer
ethylene/?-olefin (co-EO) andahighdensitypolyethylene(HDPE)).
Particularlythedatareportedinthispaperconfirmthestructure(FT-
IR analysis),thethermal(TGAandEPR)andthephoto-physical(UV-
vis)propertiesoftheRO-TEMPOderivativesbeforeandaftertheir
grafting.Herein,theFT-IRspectrumandTGAthermogramofThiO-
TEMPOwerecomparedwiththoseofAzO-TEMPO.Moreover,the
superimpositionofUV-visspectracollectedduringtheirradiation
under366or254nmemittinglampofAzO-TEMPOandThiO-TEMPO
in acetonitrilesolutionarereported.Finally,acompleteDSCchar-
acterizationofthefunctionalizedPOsisshown
