Ash dieback.The Italian situation. The invasive pathogen Hymenoscyphus fraxineus is spreading also in Italy, causing severe damages. Fraxinus excelsior stands in the Alps are now almost completely colonized, with sporadic attacks also on F.ornus. Moreover, the disease was recently recorded also in the northern Apennines, causing new warning for the future of ash habitats and woodlands also in the Mediterranean region.
