abstract:
In 2008 the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research funded the FIRB C_FORSAT project with the aim of developing, applying and validating an integrated modelling approach to estimate regional forest ecosystem productivity for the study period 1999-2010. To this aim the bio-geochemical model BIOME-BGC has been calibrated and validated to be applied for the main Italian biome-types; this operation was carried out by using the parametric model C-Fix. This is in fact capable to directly measure GPP and is based on the use of remotely sensed NDVI data. All layers required to initialise both models were acquired including a daily dataset of meteorological data. The current paper briefly describes the adopted methodology and shows the first tests carried out using data collected by the eddy correlation technique.
