abstract:
In this work we report on spectroscopic properties of Er 3+-doped and Er3+/Ce3+-codoped tungsten-tellurite glasses of molar composition 45 TeO2: 39 WO 3: 15 Na2O: 1 Er2O3 and 43 TeO 2: 39 WO3: 15 Na2O: 1 Er2O 3: 2 CeO2, respectively. Vibrational properties were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The measured absorption spectra were analyzed by McCumber theory, in order to obtain radiative transition rates and stimulated emission cross sections. The study of deexcitation dynamics of the 4I11/2 and 4I13/2 Er3+ states upon pulsed excitation at 532 nm shows that Ce3+ codoping is highly effective in favoring the population feeding of the 4I 13/2 Er3+ level.
