Biostratigraphic changes and paleoceanographic record in the Corsica Basin (Tyrrhenian Sea) during the last 18000 years

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1995
abstract:
Quantitative micropaleontological analyses are compared to oxygen isotope record and 14C AMS in one core from the Corsica Basin and are used to characterize the paleoceanographic record during the last 18000 yr B.P. In this basin, our data display the same pattern reported in the North Atlantic for the last glacial/postglacial period with two different steps (termination IA and Termination IB) separated by a rapid cold event (the Younger Dryas). The major changes in the foraminiferal assemblages are related to these oceanographic shift and allow to establish a local ecozonation.
