Semantic query transformation

In this paper the problem of query transformation by using semantic properties of data is addressed. First a formal definition of semantic properties is given in framework of relational algebra and the concept of minimal properties is presented. Then two theorems stating the correctness for a class of query transformations are presented. The theorems ensure that the query obtained by applying the transformations to a given query is semantically equivalent to original query.
