'Non-Equilibrium Distributions and Heat Transfer Near a Catalytic Surface of Re-Entering Bodies

Non-equilibrium vibrational-chemical kinetics and heat transfer in an O2/O mixture near a silica surface are studied using the state-to-state approach. The effect of non-equilibrium kinetics and surface catalysis on the total heat flux and averaged dissociation rate coefficients is examined. The contribution of thermal conductivity, thermal and mass diffusion and vibrational energy diffusion to the heat transfer is evaluated.
