Plasma behavior in presence of a liquid lithium limiter

Abstract
Publication Date:
2011
abstract:
The liquid lithium limiter (LLL) is routinely used on FTU to obtain very clean plasma and to get very performing plasma discharges. But for using a liquid surface as plasma facing component in a future reactor it is also very important to assess the capability of the lithium liquid limiter to withstand heat loads. The most significant results obtained of FTU will be reviewed with special emphasis on heat loads and plasma edge modification as the increase of the SOL electron temperature . This strong increase could be related to strong decrease on recycling coefficient. We are starting to simulate the plasma edge on FTU by using the B2-EIRENE code adapted to the circular FTU cross section.
