The EU and the Ukrainian Crisis - Legal and Political Aspects

The current Ukrainian crisis seems to highlight the complexity, ambiguity and contradictions of the legal and political relations between the EU, Ukraine and Russia. Brussels, Kyiv and Moscow are not united by trilateral agreements. The Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine aims to deepen political and economic relations between EU and Ukraine, and to gradually integrate Ukraine into the EU internal market. It is unprecedented in its breadth (number of areas covered) and depth (commitments and timelines).
